Elton Easley, age 81, of Chicago, IL passed away on September 28, 2007 at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Chicago, IL.
He was born June 10, 1926 in Atoka, TN.
He gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Flowers at St. John Baptist Church in Atoka, TN. Elton attended school at the Tipton School in Tipton County, TN. He served in the U.S. Army as a cook and received an honorable discharge. He later moved to Illinois where he worked as a cook in the Galley at Great Lakes Naval Base, Great Lakes, IL. Elton later moved to Chicago where he worked as a cook.
He leaves to remember his life two daughters, Vera Easley of North Chicago, IL and Salys Easley of Waukegan, IL and their mother, Geneva (Nathaniel) Key also of Waukegan, IL; four step children, William (Renee) Jones of North Chicago, Brenda Jones of Zion, IL, Loretta Wallace and Cynthia Ewing both of Waukegan; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three sisters in law, Neomi Phillips of Bessmer, AL, Annie Easley and Minnie Phillips both of Waukegan; a special niece, Annie Mae Nabors of North Chicago; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida Phillips and Elton Easley, Sr.,, a granddaughter, Oliva Rush, a grandson, Robert Easley, three brothers, Otha (Mertal) Easley, Jesse Easley and Roosevelt Phillips, a sister, Evealina (Robert) Smith.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Bradshaw & Range Funeral Home, 2513 Dugdale Road, Waukegan, IL. Pastor Gerald Wilcoxon, Officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M.
