Floyd Taylor, Sr.

Floyd Taylor, Sr. was born in Rosedale, Mississippi on July 4, 1935 to Vinella Lewis and Andrew Taylor who both preceded him in death. Floyd departed this life Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois at the age of 77.

In 1993, he rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized into the body of believers. He became a faithful member of Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church where he worshipped and served others. He prepared Thanksgiving meals at the Kukla Towers in North Chicago and the Senior Building in Austell, Georgia. He also visited many seniors at different nursing homes in the area.

He was a retiree from American Motors in Kenosha, Wisconsin and Hough International in Libertyville, Illinois. He also owned and operated Floyd's Tires and Hubcap Store for 5 years.

He leaves to cherish his memory five sons, Frederick (Velicia) Taylor; Clifford Taylor, both of North Chicago, Illinois; Floyd Taylor, Jr. and Craig Taylor both of Waukegan, Illinois and Tyler Taylor of Warrenton, Georgia. Four daughters, Wanda Jean Johnson-Taylor of Waukegan, Illinois; Renee Marie Taylor of Zion, Illinois; Shronne Chiffon Taylor of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Elette Taylor of St. Paul, Minnesota. Five sisters: Carolyn (David) Mc Dowell; Theresa Taylor; Audrey Taylor; and Patricia Taylor-Peralta, all of Chicago, Illinois and Sherry Lewis-Sampson of Waukegan, Illinois. Five Brothers: Andrew (Dorothy) Silis-Bo of Boyle, Mississippi; Alfred Lewis, Jr.; Melvin Lewis Sr. both of Waukegan, Illinois; Jesse Lewis, Jr. (Sharon) of Wadsworth, Illinois. and Tyrone Taylor of Beach Park, Illinois; eleven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vinella Lewis and Andrew Taylor; Stepfather, Alfred Lewis Sr.; two brothers: Walter Lewis and Chester Lewis; One sister Annie Ream and Great Grandson, Keenan Burnett. A Celebration of His Life Service will be held on Thursday November 8, 2012, at 7:00 P.M. at Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 2690 Argonne Drive, North Chicago, IL. Pastor Henry Woods, Sr., Officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M.
